PBS doesn't need much hardware - an old laptop, or a repurposed thin client with external USB HDD, are viable options.Ģ- Is it worth using PBS, or is it enough to use the backup solution PVE have already? What is the difference (I want to know from someone who's using PBS). The drive that holds backups is in a simple EXT4 format, so it can be mounted on any Linux system if needed. I installed PBS on a spare, 9 year old, Lenovo U310 laptop. Installing it as a VM, or on the PVE host directly, could create a situation where a failure may take down both PVE and PBS at the same time, which could complicate recovery. I recommend installing PBS bare-metal and separate from PVE. 1- How you recommend to install the PBS, as a VM into PVE or standalone directly on the HOST?
